แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ชนิด
 1. Embryonic connective

พบอยู่ในสายสะดือ บางตำราจัดรวมอยู่ใน mesenchyme เนื้อเยื่อชนิดนี้ประกอบด้วย
Mesenchymal cell (M) และ ground substance ที่โปร่งใส มีชื่อเรียกเฉพาะว่า
Wharton's jelly แต่เนื้อเยื่อในสายสะดือไม่สามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงไปเป็นเนื้อเยื่อชนิดอื่นๆ
ได้ Mesenchyme เป็นเนื้อเยื่อเกี่ยวพันที่พวกเซลล์และสิ่งที่อยู่ภายนอกเซลล์อยู่กันอย่างหลวม
และยอมให้เมทาบอไรท์ซึมผ่านเข้า-ออก ได้อย่างง่ายและเป็นอิสระ |
