Detailed Professional Experience
A. Professional Summary:
Dr. Jim Eastep earned his BA (General Biology) and BS (Medical
Technology) degrees from the University of Colorado in 1974. This
was followed by 7 years of work as a medical technologist in several
human hospitals. Jim obtained his Master of Science degree in
experimental pathology from the University of Washington in 1980,
where he worked on an immunofluorescent labelling system for B
and T lymphocytes in mouse tissues. His DVM was earned from Colorado
State University in 1989. He then spent 4 years at Iowa State
University as a graduate student and adjunct instructor where
he received his Master of Science degree in veterinary pathology
in August of 1992. His research at Iowa State concentrated on
developing, refining, and applying software tools for computer
based instructional systems. During two years as a Callendar-Binford
Fellow at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Jim
developed a searchable, CD-ROM based, visual database of cases
documenting the Veterinary Pathology Department=s internationally
recognized Wednesday Slide Conference. Dr. Eastep currently divides
his time between the Department of Medical Education, the Center
for Scientific Publications (CSP), and the Department of Veterinary
Pathology where he functions in a variety of capacities including
the management of several web sites, the development of World
Wide Web based continuing medical education modules, and a CD-ROM
on necropsy technique for the Military Working Dog.
