Anatomic Pathology Fellowship Program

Description: The Callender-Binford Fellowships provide a one- or two-year training period in one or more of the subspecialty areas of anatomic pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), including: cellular, chemical, forensic, oral and veterinary pathology. Depending on personal qualifications and experience, teaching and research are integrated into the trainee's program. The Fellow will be assigned to one of the AFIP Department/Division Heads for program coordination.

Requirements: There are several highly competitive, equal opportunity fellowship positions funded annually by the American Registry of Pathology (ARP). Only candidates with the highest qualifications will be selected. Highly motivated pathologists or other biomedical scientists (MD, DDS, DVM, PhD) are eligible for consideration.

Stipends: The ARP will provide a grant of $30,000 per year in monthly installments. The appointment is for one year but may be considered for a second year.

The American Registry of Pathology is privileged to accept applications for a Callender-Binford Fellowship created in honor of the late Dr. Robert W. Leader, DVM. Dr. Leader served as President, of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.

The Fellow will be assigned to the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. As a stipend, the American Registry of Pathology will provide a grant of $30,000 per year in monthly installments. The successful applicant will pursue research programs in comparative, toxicologic, or environmental pathology, or work with Department projects such as web-based education. Excellent collaborative opportunities are available with the 22 human specialty departments at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. This candidate will be either a member of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or board eligible.
