C.L. DAVIS DVM FOUNDATION
FELLOWSHIPS IN ZOO AND WILDLIFE PATHOLOGY
The Zoo and Wildlife Pathology Fellowships will be offered internationally
to meet the need for more veterinary pathologists with expertise in zoo
and wildlife species. The emphasis of these fellowships is the recognition
and understanding of wild animal diseases and their impact on wildlife and
environmental conservation. Fellows will be graduate veterinarians supervised
by a zoo or wildlife pathologist. The Zoo and Wildlife Pathology Fellows
will be instructed in a multidisciplinary approach to zoo and wildlife disease
diagnosis. Diagnostic investigations will include special postmortem techniques,
histopathology, virology, bacterology, toxicology, electron microscopy and
epidmiology. Results of these investigations will be directly applicable
to improving the quality of life and longevity of rare and endangered animals.
