TNM Classifications

pTX Primary tumor cannot be assessed
pTO No evidence of primary tumor
pTa Papillary tumor confined to mucosa. No infiltration of the lamina propria
pTis Non-papillary, non-infiltrating tumor confined to mucosa--carcinoma in-situ
pT1 Tumor invades subepithelial connective tissue
pT2 Tumor invades muscle
pT2a--Tumor invades superficial muscle (inner half)
pT2b--Tumor invades deep muscle (outer half)
pT3 Tumor invades perivesical tissue
pT3a--Microscopically
pT3b--Macroscopically (extravesical mass)
pT4 Tumor invades any of the following: prostate, uterus, vagina, pelvic wall, abdominal wall
pT4a--Tumor invades prostate, uterus, or vagina
pT4b--Tumor invades pelvic or abdominal wall

N-Regional Lymph Nodes

NX Regional lymph node cannot be assessed
NO No regional lymph node metastasis
N1 Metastasis in a single lymph node 2cm or less in greatest dimension
N2 Metastasis in a single lymph node between 2 and 5cm in greatest dimension or inmultiple lymph nodes, none more than 5cm in greatest dimension
N3 Metastasis in a lymph node more than 5cm in greatest dimension

M-Distant Metastasis

MX Distant metastasis cannot be assessed
MO No distant metastasis
M1 Distant metastasis
